At Maple Leaf Guitars, wood takes center stage. Bearclaw spruce, walnut, maple, cherry, ziricote, wild alder, smoked oak and others – each piece tells its own story. I don´t chase flawless cosmetics. I seek resonance, character, and the spirit that turns an instrument into a lifelong companion.

Built with soul, not speed

My instruments are built slowly, with a spanish neck joint, flat tops, and a Manzer-inspired X-bracing. They are not designed to impress with gloss or ornamentation, but to sing with balance, clarity, and soul.

Finishes that let the wood sing

My finishes are designed to protect the instrument without damping its voice. Each layer is kept thin and natural, supporting resonance and allowing the guitar to develop its full character over time.

Verdance Finish: A hand-applied shellac base with natural hardwax oil. Thin, resonant, and designed to let the wood breathe and age gracefully. A finish that protects while revealing the natural depth of the grain.

Cremona Finish: A traditional oil varnish, similiar to great violin varnishes. hand-applied in thin layers, it gives a warm deep glow and a timeless character – subtle, natural, and alive.
